China Mobile's earnings up in 2010 because of more downloads

China Mobile, the mobile phone operator with the majority of subscribers in the globe, has stated its profits amplified as more video and music was downloaded. Net earnings increased by 3.9 percent to 119.6bn yuan ($18.2bn) in year 2010, whereas revenue was up by more than 7 percent.

"Rising mobile saturation in China will further strengthen antagonism in the telecommunications industry," Chairman Wang Jianzhou informed. The telecoms company has a total of 584mn users. In June, it asserted it had 493mn subscribers.

The firm said at the beginning of this month that the Chinese capital, Beijing, was now on the list of cities that had been given permission to roll out tests of its high-speed 4G network, in addition to crowded cities such as Guangzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
