Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC has doubled phone sales on year to date, with the help of its affiliation with Chunghwa Telecom (mobile operator), ensuring that the organization will surpass sales of their biggest rival Nokia and make it the top cell phone vendor in the country in the first quarter of the year.
Jack Tong, V.P. of Asia Pacific asserted HTC’s phone sales in Taiwan in the 1st quarter have reached half of the company’s total handset consignments shipped in 2010, adding that sales in the Asia Pacific marketplace have shown growth at comparable rates.
With Nokia holding leading spot when it comes to sales volume in the local marketplace, Tong notes that HTC outperformed its competitors in Dec., becoming the number one supplier in terms of sales value. The company expects to exceed Nokia’s sales volumes by July of this year.
